2012 PC Sales Stats: 352 Million PCs Sold, Down 3.2 Percent From 2011

Well this was a number that we knew would go down, and it did. In 2012, a total of 352 million PCs were sold, 3.2 percent less than the number of PCs sold in 2011. (Source). The fact that tablet sales are magnitudes higher than the reduced PC sales shows that the Post-PC era in computing has clearly set in now.

How do we digest this number? Let us try this, with tablet numbers: more than 100 million tablets have been sold in 2012. As tablets move more forcefully into the enterprise, we will soon see these devices catching up with the PCs.
