Well that is if you strictly count people using Google Plus alone. If you add up the folks using the + button and using hangouts etc, that number jumps to 235 million (Source)
The one area where Google Plus has to necessarily show improvement is this: user engagement. We had written about this before – that the average person online in the US spends 6.75 HOURS a month on Facebook, and just 3 MINUTES on Google Plus

We had spotted a very sad stat on Google Plus some time back –Time Spent on Site Statistics – Facebook:Google Plus :: 405:3
Today we spotted some encouraging stats on Google Plus – some 135 million users login and use the site atleast once in a month, and a total of 500 million profiles have been created so far (Source). Some 235 million people have used atleast one feature.
This is our reading on Google Plus: there is a group of nerds that it appeals to, and they are regular users. For others, as John Battelle asked Vic Gundotra, Google might be better off providing a login via facebook button.

We had spotted some interesting Google Plus statistics. We spotted this today:
“According to figures released today from Website-Monitoring.com, two-thirds of Google+ users are men, which stands in contrast to Facebook, where a majority of users are women, including 55% in the U.S.
Konrad Caban, the manager director for Website-Monitoring.com parent company Siteimpulse, speculates that more men use Google+ because it is seen as more of an extension of other Google services such as Android and Gmail and is not as well-known for being a social hangout as Facebook.”

We know the women’s network now as well – we had spotted some Pinterest stats earlier.

Well, all that Google homepage promotion had to have an impact. We had spotted Google Plus stats before – we spotted this today:
“In December, Google+ reached a new high of 20 million unique visitors (considered to be the primary indicator of popularity), 50 million visits, and 200 million Page Views.
It is now safe to say that Google+ is becoming an enormous success, with nearly half of the unique visitors of Twitter (40,411,065 unique visitors in December). With a steep upward trend and knowledge of the power behind a Google product, expect continued growth from the unequaled search engine’s social platform known for ingenuity, creativity, and revolutionary product offerings”

We have written about Google Plus Statistics before. We spotted this today:
“On September 9, our model showed 28.7 million users
This morning, our model shows 37.8 million users, with most of the growth coming in the last 2 days
By adding a fudge factor (see below) to account for private user profiles and for non-Roman surnames (both of which are totally overlooked by our surname counting model), my current estimate is 43.4 million users”

We spotted this today:
” Google Inc.’s new social-networking service may grow to claim 22 percent of online U.S. adults in a year, passing Twitter Inc. and LinkedIn Corp. to be the second- most-used social site after Facebook Inc., a survey found.
Google+ has signed up 13 percent of U.S. adults and will add 9 percent over the next year, according to the survey from Bloomberg/YouGov. In the same period, Facebook will lose about 2 percentage points of U.S. adults to keep 69 percent of that population, while Twitter and LinkedIn continue to grow their portion of users.”
