Bailout Statistics: Fannie Mae payments to U.S. to exceed bailout

As the 2008 crisis unfolded, the US Government stepped in and bailed out many important institutions – Fannie Mae was an important one, which got a bailout package of more than 116 billion US dollars. We spotted this stat today, that Fannie will pay the government $7.2 billion in March. With that payment, the company will have sent $121 billion in dividends to the government — compared with the $116 billion it requested from the Treasury. (Source)

The bailouts were a good deal for the Government, after all.
