Big Data Statistics: 96 Billion USD IT Spending In 2012

Estimating IT spends on things like big data, cloud etc is a tricky exercise – the closest one can get is a “direct and indirect” spend estimate, the data on big data for that comes in at 96 billion USD for 2012 (Source).

Well given the total IT spend in 2011 (3.6 Trillion) this is definitely a small number, particularly given the fact that everyone has been focusing on big data this year. But such scales can trick us.
