Apple Music Statistics: Over 11 Million Subscribers

We spotted this stat today:

“Cue says that the company “just passed over 11 million Apple Music subscribers,” which is right in line with the “over 10 million” figure reported by Financial Times last month. And while we learned last month (during Apple’s quarterly earnings call) that there are 1 billion Apple devices in active use, Cue says in the podcast that — since many people own multiple devices — the company has 782 million iCloud users. Those users are uploading billions of photos to iCloud every week, according to Cue.”

15 Percent: iPhone Battery Improvement By Uninstalling Facebook App

We spotted this interesting stat today:

“Uninstalling the Facebook app from your iPhone may improve the device’s battery life. According to a report by The Guardian, removing the Facebook app from the phone can save up to 15% of an iPhone’s battery life. The report also says that the app was consuming around 500MB of storage. This included the 11MB that the app takes, while the rest of cache.”

$22 Billion: What Ad Blocking Might Have Cost Publishers During 2015

“Ad blocking estimated to cost publishers nearly $22 billion during 2015.
There are now 198 million active adblock users around the world.
Ad blocking grew by 41% globally in the last 12 months.
US ad blocking grew by 48% to reach 45 million active users in 12 months up to June 2015.
UK ad blocking grew by 82% to reach 12 million active users in 12 months up to June 2015.”

Review Sites, One Level Down

Food, Apartments and pretty much everything else – reviews today work at level 1. You can find a lot of reviews for an apartment community – but if you are searching for reviews on a specific unit in an apartment community, you are generally out of luck. Same with restaurants – if you are looking for how good a restaurant is, you have tonnes of help. But try looking for how good a specific item on their menu is – and you are generally out of luck. And so on and so forth.

What we need are reviews, one level down. Why Not?

$3.6 Billion: Alphabet’s Operating Loss For ‘Other Bets’ In 2015

“Alphabet — the company formerly known as Google — reported some pretty good earnings today. For the first time, the company also broke out its revenue and loss from its “other bets” outside of the core products that still make up its Google subsidiary. These other bets generated $448 million in revenue in 2015 but Alphabet’s operating loss for those bets was almost $3.6 billion.”

$22.5 Billion: US Taxes Paid By Indian Technology Firms In FY 2011-15

We spotted this stat today –

“The Indian tech industry invested more than $2 billion in USA during FY 2011-13, has paid $22.5 billion in taxes during FY 2011-15 and supported 4,11,000 jobs in FY2015 directly or indirectly,” Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.
