From Mary Meeker’s Year-End Internet Trends: The Anomaly Called India

December 4, 2012 4:47 pm

We picked up these two points from Mary Meeker’s latest Internet report:

1. India has 44 Million smartphone subscribers, and 137 Million Internet users overall.
2. In India, Mobile Internet Traffic surpassed Desktop Internet usage in May, 2012.

That shows heavy mobile internet usage, relative to the PC. Remember, India is a country that jumped past the manufacturing phase, to directly become a services economy from an agricultural economy. Likewise, looks like the PC Internet phase is also being given a skip, with the whole country jumping into mobile internet directly. More or less.
