Google Acquisition Stats: One-Third Are Failures

May 23, 2012 5:52 pm

We spotted this rather interesting statement today:

““We’ve done 120 acquisitions since 2003, maybe one in 2002,” Lawee said. “And two-thirds of them have been successful.”

Doing the math, that works out to roughly 40 deals that didn’t quite pan out the way the folks in Mountain View had hoped. ”

Interesting number to keep in mind. Two in three is not a good hit ratio, given all the due-diligence that goes in.
