Spotify statistics are solid proof that streaming music is going mainstream. Not only is Spotify fast becoming the poster child of the streaming music revolution, it is sitting at an enviable intersection: social and music. Apple tried to sit at that intersection with its efforts on Ping, but that did not work out very well for Apple.

Updated spotify statistics show that the service has 20 million+ tracks and 20 million+ users across 17 countries, over 5 million of whom are paying subscribers. (Source)

We had spotted some spotify stats before – we spotted this today –

“Spotify on Wednesday announced that it now has 2.5 million subscribers around the world paying for its service. The company has roughly 10 million paid and free listeners combined. Spotify’s recent launch in the U.S. is seen as having been a big boost for the company, and its Facebook integration is said to have bolstered new subscriptions as well. ”

That is a stunning growth rate, a classic example of the growth that only facebook integration can provide. The number of paying customers is double that 2.5 million number now, which again shows that Spotify has grown in the metrics that matter.
