Tesla Sales Up 500 Percent In Q4, Production Rate: 20,000 Units Annually

This is a peek into the future – but maybe no longer so – Tesla just announced that sales of its electric cars went up 500 percent in Q4, and the company is now producing electric cars at an annual run rate of 20,000 units (Source).

How do we digest these numbers? Obviously, they are too small to compare to auto sales to get an idea – there the sales run rate is a million units a month. We tried to digest it based on the target market but we couldn’t, particularly given the cancelation numbers of Tesla.

So we’ll just have to digest this stat without any aid – 20K annual run rate, fast growth, still making losses. That would be it.
