What Is The Total Number Of Websites In The World?

Well, we keep hearing these terms – billions of webpages, millions of websites – but how many websites actually exist in the world? As of December, the total number of websites in the world stands at approximately 633 million (Source).

How do we digest this number? The easy way could be, one for every three connected people in the world. There are many tougher ways to digest this stat, we will have a follow-up post very soon.

  1. 633 Million websites and 1 for every 3 “connected people in the world” … Are we talking connected as in having access to the web or connected as in having a desktop computer with the technologies available to build a website.

    Either way, I’d love to know how you got to the figures preceeding the possibilty of arriving at the figure 1 website for every 3 connected people.

    It would take a massive effort to ‘ping the World Wide Web’ so to speak. I look forward to that follow up post.

    Wow !!! What an analysis – 1 out of 3.
    The total number of chicken in the world – 2 for every 5.

    Isn’t it more accurate and scientific by getting the figures from the registrars???

    And this result comes in the top 10 in google.
